Abstract

Reconfigurable scheduling allows tasks in a queue to be temporarily halted and moved to run on different resources. This approach yields good efficiency of resource utilisation and a degree of resource fault tolerance. We describe our test harness and Java implementation for deploying reconfigurable scheduling in a computational grid system.

Keywords: reconfiguration; scheduling; efficiency; distributed objects; parallel computing.
