A Testbed System for Time Warp in Java

Archived: 29 March 2000
Abstract
The design of a Java testbed system, known as FATWa, for the Time Warp
synchronisation scheme is described. The particular issue of
implementating and experimenting with Time Warp refinement algorithms
is addressed. The approach taken by the FATWa system is
discussed. Positive and negative experiences in implementing the
system are related. We conclude that Java is helpful in such aspects
as supporting a modular design and dynamic repartitioning, while
problematic in the aspect of thread management. Also some issues for
further research are outlined.
Keywords: discrete event simulation; Java; distributed simulation;
Time Warp.
