Archived: 21 March 1998
Abstract
We describe our use of Java as an integration mechanism for a
wide-area distributed high-performance computing framework. Our
DISCWorld system uses a symmetric model of communicating servers to
satisfy user queries for scheduling high-granularity services. We
discuss the software architecture of the DISCWorld daemon that runs
on each participating host and the advantages and disadvantages of a
Java based infrastructure for this model.
