DHPC Group's Parallel Computing Projects
We have a long standing interest in parallel computing, and some of
the aspects we are actively researching include:
- Parallel I/O, properties, behaviour and optimisation on tightly
coupled paralel computers as well as on clusters and networks of
workstations and other computer platforms.
- Parallel computing Libraries and utilities for making parallel
programming easier. We are especially interested in High Performance
Fortran libraries.
- Teaching and training in the use of parallel computing and
assembling examples and templates to illustrate parallel algorithms.
The platforms we have available to use include: 128 node Connection
Machine CM5, 20 node Silicon Graphics Power Challenge, 8 and 10 processor
ATM-connected Alpha farms, and prototype Beowulf style clusters of PCs.
