On-Line Geospatial Imagery Access Server (OLGAS)

In collaboration with the Imagery Management and Dissemination (IMAD) group of the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO), we have developed software to provide storage, management, searching, accessing and processing services for online geospatial imagery archives.

OLGAS is an object-oriented program written in Java and uses a CORBA interface that conforms to a subset of the Geospatial and Imagery Access Services (GIAS) Specification, which is major component of the U.S. Imagery and Geospatial Information System (USIGS) standards.

The aim of this project is to provide support for environmental, agricultural and defence applications requiring access to distributed on-line archives of geospatial imagery from earth observation systems such as satellites and and aerial photo-reconnaissance.

A modified version of the GIAS specification has been proposed to the Open GIS Consortium (OGC) as part of the OpenGIS Catalog Interface specification. It is expected that future versions of OLGAS will support OpenGIS standards.
