Education and Training Activities

The DHPC group is based in the Computer Science Department at Adelaide University and has a keen involvement in the education and training of Australia's next generation of advanced computing researchers and software engineers.

Several honours and postgraduate students have been supervised by DHPC staff members on a variety of research projects. Students benefit in a number of ways from their group affiliation, including access to high-end computing facilities, enhanced supervisory time and peer group interactions. Students in the DHPC group also have the opportunity for involvement with the group's industrial research and development collaborative projects, as well as with international collaborator organisations in the UK and USA, particularly the DHPC group at the University of Wales, Bangor.

Opportunities exist to join the group to carry out postgraduate research in the areas of distributed, high-performance and parallel computing.

The group also offers a number of research projects for honours and masters students in computer science each year. These projects offer students a chance to work on advanced computing facilities and to gain exposure to current research in high-performance computing.

The DHPC group has also operated a summer research program for undergraduates interested in experiencing what the research environment is like by undertaking a small supervised project.

The DHPC group develops courses, workshops and training materials for users of distributed and high-performance computing. The following educational activities have been offered or are offered on an ongoing basis:
