DHPC/OLDA Demonstrations
The Distributed and
High-Performance Computing (DHPC) Group operate a number of
funded projects under the Australian Government's Research Data Network (RDN)
Cooperative
Research Program (CRC). These are managed by the Advanced Computational
Systems (ACSys) CRC under the
On-Line Data Archives program (OLDA).
The following demonstration prototype systems have been developed by
the Distributed and High-Performance Computing Group.
-
The Eric system provides access to a repository of satellite image data,
and allows some server-side processing of the images, including cropping
of images and creation of animations.
-
-
About 25 Gbytes of digital images of slices through the human body
was processed, reconstructed and compressed,
resulting in a 2 Gbyte online image archive.
A Java applet was written to allow users to easily browse, select,
crop and view the images at multiple resolutions, for high or low
bandwidth network connections.
